PROFESSOR AT MUSASHINO ART UNIVERSITY
A global design strategist, Chiu is a Professor at Musashino Art University. Her interests lie in integrating design, technology, and business for global, inter-disciplinary collaborations.
Prior to this, Chiu was President of ICoD (International Council of Design), Executive Board Member of World Design Organization, Executive Director of Japan Institute of Design Promotion, Director of the International Design Center NAGOYA (IdcN), and served on the Mayor's Advisory Council on implementing the ten-year strategic plan (2010-2020) for the future of Nagoya City and on the strategic visions for the economic development of Central Japan Region as a whole.
Chiu specializes in international policies on creative cities and has worked with governments and academic institutions across Europe, North America, and the Pacific Rim to implement design policies and strategic visions for the development of their creative industries. She has served on numerous competition juries including Adobe Design Achievement Awards, Brno Biennial, Biennial of Design (BIO), Design for Asia Award, Design Leadership Award, Red Dot Design Concept Award, Red Star Design Award, Successful Design Awards, World Outstanding Chinese Designer Award, Worldstar Student Awards, President’s Design Award Singapore and the Good Design Award.
